The age old question - should we buy or rent the gear?
If you are only just getting into the snow, or this is your first trip up to the mountain, consider renting. Most resorts will have rental shops where you can get fitted out head to toe for the weekend. Once you have mastered the skills and know you love heading up to the mountain consider buying some gear of your own.
Book a lesson
Most resorts offer lessons that allow your kids to master the basics and get some confidence on the mountain.
Take breaks, play in the snow and pack some snacks. A day on the mountain can be long and exhausting so keep it light and fun.
Start on the runs that are not too steep and build up their skill levels and confidence.
Practice falling with your kids. If it is their first time they will spend on lot of time falling so make sure they know how to without hurting the wrists and arms.
Teach your kids to always look up hill before taking off to make sure they launch safe. Alway remind them that the lower riders have right of way.
