What should I consider when buying kids snow apparel?
Getting your kids fully kitted out for skiing holidays can work out expensive, especially if you have several to worry about. At Anaconda, we offer a great selection of good value basics, alongside some great branded items for kids of all ages, so you can take your pick and select the clothing that suits your style and budget. Here are some of the things to consider:
Gloves or mittens
A warm, waterproof pair of gloves or mittens that cover the wrists is essential. Mittens are generally warmer than gloves, plus they're easier to put on for small fingers. Always take a spare pair!
Thermals are great for providing - and maintaining - body warmth. Their special wicking properties draw moisture away from the body, and they are soft and comfortable against the skin.
A fleece mid-layer gives extra insulation under your kids ski clothes and also gives them the option to remove a layer if their activities or a change in the weather mean they are getting uncomfortably warm.
Consider the following aspects when choosing kids outerwear: cold, wind and water. In an ideal world, their outerwear needs to protect them against all three. This can be done with a thin hard shell jacket as well as with a down-filled jacket, and there are plenty of choices.
Goggles create a snow-proof seal around the eyes to protect them from ultraviolet rays and will stay securely in place during activities such as skiing or snowboarding.
Ski socks that come up to their knees, often called 'Tube socks', will keep their feet warm and secure in ski or snowboard boots.
Choose from a range of hats, headbands and ear protectors to make sure your kids are kept warm while out on the ice or in the snow.
The rays are very intense in the mountains and damage can occur quickly with the reflection from the snow, so always make sure you have sunscreen (also available from Anaconda) in your luggage.
Experts say that making sure your snow apparel is bright and colourful can be a lifesaver in the event of an unfortunate accident, as bright colours are more easily spotted against the snow!
Does Anaconda stock snow boots for kids too?
Yes, you will find them in the kids footwear section under Apres and Snow Boots.
