Can I purchase mountain bikes at Anaconda?
Yes, Anaconda stocks a variety of mountain bikes suitable for people of different levels of experience, in models for men, women and teens. Mountain biking is a fun and exhilarating way to enjoy riding off-road, on a wide variety of terrain. Mountain bikes typically have frames made from steel, aluminium or carbon fibre, and all will have robust wheels with chunky tyres, but there are differences in the levels of suspension, which will decide what type of terrain they are suitable for.
Why are there different wheel sizes in mountain bikes?
Historically, mountain bikes had wheels that were 26 inches in diameter - it was the standard wheel/tyre size for all off-road bicycles. Then people started to experiment with wheel sizes and it was found that larger wheel sizes 9 up to 29 inches in diameter, actually performed better in some circumstances - although a little heavier and less responsive, they provide better traction and speed. Downhill racers will usually prefer the smaller wheel option, as the shorter wheelbase and smaller wheels make the bike easier to handle in those conditions. Several other options halfway between the two are also on offer and can make a good all-round mountain bike suitable for different conditions.
What is a FAT bike?
A fatbike or fat bike is an off-road bicycle with oversized tires, designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft unstable terrain, such as snow, sand, bogs and mud. Fat bikes are built around frames with wide forks and stays to accommodate the wide rims required to fit these tyres, and can ride on terrain that will see off normal mountain bikes. It has gained popularity rapidly and means that off-roading is an all-year round option.

However, it is worth noting that a mountain bike is a not insignificant investment, so we would advise that you ask for advice and take into account the level of cycling that you plan to do before committing to a particular model.
