Can I purchase bike bottle cages from Anaconda?
Yes, you can. Specially designed to hold your bottle of water or energy drink, these handy gadgets clip or screw onto your bike frame so that you have your bottle within easy reach. Here at Anaconda, you can choose from models that allow you to grab your water bottle from the side or from the top, depending on which you find most practical while riding your bike. Bottle cages come in various sizes, allowing you to take as much liquid on your ride as needed.
Will bottle cages add unnecessary weight to my bike?
No, modern-day bike bottle cages are made from lightweight, strong materials, which means they will usually weigh less than the water or drink you may be carrying. Choose from alloys and other lightweight, man-made materials which will offer good support and shock absorption at the same time. For performance racing, there are even aero shaped bottle cages to reduce drag.
Will bottle cages fit all types of bottles?
Most bottle cages are built to a standard size so will fit large and small bottles. Some cages do feature adjustable stoppers to offer a more refined fit.
How much hydration do I need when riding a bike?
There is no set rule that says exactly how much you should drink, as there are too many variables like body size, temperature, ride intensity and a range of other factors. However, the general rule of thumb is that you can lose up to a litre of water per hour for intense cycling - or around 250ml every 15mins. That means if you have one bottle holder on your bike and you have a 500ml water bottle you may consume all that water in 30 minutes. An extra bottle cage for extra water capacity may be recommended.
What if I am planning longer rides?
If you're planning rides longer than an hour, you should consider switching from water to drinks with electrolytes and carbohydrates to keep your energy up to perform at your best. Also, if you are mountain biking for hours at a time, it is a good idea to invest in a hydration pack that can offer more capacity than bottles can.
