What is a rashie?
A rashie, also known as a rashy, a rash guard or a UV top, was originally invented in the 1970s, to stop surfers chafing their skin on their surfboards. They have since become hugely popular in Australia, protecting your skin from harmful UV rays when spending time by the pool or at the beach. They are often seen as a staple item for surfers or anyone else who does water sports as they reduce the risk of damage from the sun’s harmful rays.
How should I wash my rashie?
There are many specialist products available for washing your rashie, we would not recommend putting it into a washing machine. When you wash and dry your rashie, it should be inside out to avoid weakening the material. High temperatures can also impair the fabric’s integrity, so we only recommend washing your rashie with cold, or tepid, water and you should not put it in the tumble dryer or iron it. We would also suggest that after each use, you rinse your rashie with fresh, clean water. When you are in the water, chlorine, salt water, sun rays and natural ocean particles can leave residue behind, so it is essential to make sure that your rashie is adequately rinsed to avoid any malodours.
Are the rashies from Anaconda quick drying?
Yes, they are. A number of our rashies here at Anaconda explicitly state that they are made from a quick-drying fabric. Just rinse your rashie after use in fresh, clean water and hang it out to dry. We do not recommend folding the material when it is wet, as this can further weaken the structure of the fabric.
