Bald Head Walk Trail

Bald Head Trail Walk is a challenging 8 hour hike

Our first stop in our quest for the best hiking trails in WA is located in Torndirrup National Park, just near Albany and Mount Barker. Bald Head Walk Trail will take you on a challenging trail that follows along the ridge line of the Flinders Penisula, starting at Murray Road and finishing up at Bald Head. Hiking through this giant granite formation will take between six to eight hours to complete, totalling just over 12 km, and will require some hiking experience as you will be challenged. The Bald Head Walk Trail is open all year round and rewards successful hikers with spectacular views of the surrounding granite cliffs and Torndirrup Coast.

Mount Bruce Hiking Track

Mount Bruce is high difficulty hiking track for experienced hikers

Straight out of the gate as one of the hardest hiking trails on our list, the Mount Bruce Hiking Track is only for experienced hikers who know what they are doing. Situated in the Karijini National Park, Mount Bruce Hiking Track stretches over 10 km (including the return) and takes roughly six to seven hours to complete in total. Make sure you bring your hiking shoes and backpack, because this hiking trail is going to be difficult. This hiking trail is incredibly steep, narrow, rough and has lots of unmarked areas, so caution is a must. However, those who conquer the 450-metre summit will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding Karijini National Park. And remember, the best time to visit this hiking trail is between April and September.

For experienced hikers, this steep trail is a hiking paradise, featuring breathtaking views of sprawling flat landscapes and clear blue skies. The best time to visit the Summit Trail is between the months of April and October, and will take experienced hikers around six hours to complete the 12 km hiking track.

Bluff Knoll

Bluff Knoll is the third highest peak in Western Australia

Although it is a shorter hike compared to the others on this list, taking around three hours to complete the 6 km hiking trail, the reward is incredible views of the surrounding Stirling Ranges. Having some hiking experience is recommended, but this hiking track is still suitable for novice hikers - but just keep in mind that this is a steep hiking trail that goes straight uphill, so remember to stretch before beginning your hike to the top.

This hiking trail is a reward in itself, showcasing stunning views of karri trees clinging to massive boulders, lush rainforests and panoramic views of the surrounding Stirling Ranges and the Southern Ocean. This hiking track is perfect to visit at any time of the year, so there are no excuses for not visiting the Nacy Peak hiking track!

Only consisting of a few steep inclines and short hill sections, the Bigurda Trail will take approximately three hours to complete its 8 km journey. You will enjoy fantastic views of the Coral Coast that hugs the mainland - including the cheeky whale or two if you're lucky! Also, don't forget to bring along your puffer jacket because the Bigurda Trail is known for being extremely windy.
