What is the history of the Scotty downrigger?
The first Scotty downrigger was released into the market back in 1973, which quickly became highly regarded among anglers along Canada's West Coast. This was because of its lightweight plastic design that also possessed the strength to withstand the harsh North Pacific climate.
Are Ram and Scotty mounts compatible?
Unfortunately, Scotty mounts and Ram mounts are not compatible.
How does a Scotty mount work?
Basically, a Scotty mount is either attached to an instrument mount socket or a Scotty-type fishing rod holder. A Scotty mount also features a universal angle knuckle that allows positioning at any angle. It will also fit smaller BBQ models and has a quick-release latch that allows for easy removal.
How do you reset the counter on a Scotty downrigger?
You will notice that the counter on the Scotty downrigger has a little gear attached to it, which gets moved by the pegs that are on the spool. To reset the counter, simply spin that little gear with your hand until the counter has reached zero.
