FAMILY SNOW HOLIDAY
A family holiday trip to the snow is a great for families of any size and age. We have pulled together some tips and tricks on what to look out for and do when heading up to the mountain together.
What you wear to the snow will have a huge impact on your enjoyment levels on the mountain. There is nothing worse than being cold or wet. It is best to layer up on the mountain and to wear waterproofed outer wear. Important basics to wear are thermals, snow jackets and pants, socks, beanies and gloves. We also recommend putting in a spare pair of dry clothes in the car for the trip back home so you are clean and dry for the journey.
HELMETS ARE KEY
Protect your children from serious injury and make sure they wear a helmet at all times when in the snow. You will find that at most mountains they are compulsory for children so make sure you pick one up before getting to the mountain.
If this is your first trip up to the snow - book a ski or snowboarding lesson. This is a great way to get a grip on the basics so you can give it a go. They will teach you how to walk around the mountain with your gear, how to balance and slide down the mountain. Most resorts offer great packages and lessons for all ages and levels!
POCKETS, POCKETS, POCKETS
Look out for jackets that have built in ski pass holders to ensure no family member loses their pass. Having pockets means you can carry more or your gear with you. Think about packing lip balm, sunscreen and even a snack for while you are on the mountain.
