Dometic has a long history, the brand can be traced back to the invention of the very first refrigerator in 1925 by two Swedish engineering students. These students were convinced the best way to cool was by using heat and so they designed a product that absorbed heat generated by a boiler to circulate a cooling agent through the system; thereby creating a cooling effect.
The invention was taken up by the company Artic, then within a few years by Electrolux, who saw the value in a cooling system that uses heat rather than ice. With the global boom of sales in refrigerators after World War II, Leisure fridges split off from the household fridges segment and was given the name that we know today, Dometic.

All of the Dometic cooling boxes hake been tested in the hottest parts of the Australian deserts, with temperatures up to 40°C. These fridges/freezer can hold up to the heat of the sun, after three months of operation in one of the hottest places in the country, none of their boxes never lost their functionality and stayed cool.
