From state-of-the-art bike computers, super bright LED bike lights, bike repairs kits to the best child carriers Anaconda makes sure that not only do you have the right bike for your journey but also the best essential accessories required for all cyclists.
Which Accessories Should I Purchase?
Whether you have been riding for some time or are just starting out on a new bike there are some accessories that are essential to a safe and enjoyable journey. Having a good bike helmet, bike lock, bright LED bike lights (for night cycling), a bike repair kit are arguably the most essential bike accessories. From there we recommend kitting yourself out with a bike bottle cage, some bike wheel mud guards, a bike pump, bike mirrors, a bike computer, bike cargo racks for the car, a bike child carrier, bike saddle bags, pannier bags or a bike basket as required.
Important Information on the Essential Bike Accessories
First and most importantly we will briefly talk about the bike helmet which should be used at all times when riding. Most important in the decision of which bike helmet to purchase is the safety aspects and fit rather than the style. In cycling fashion should be secondary to safety!
It is also important to realise that there are different helmets for different riding styles. For example mountain bike helmets that may have a visor and are designed to keep you cool at lower speeds as opposed to road bike helmets that are more aerodynamic and designed to keep you cooler at higher speeds. A good bike helmet should fit snuggly with no gap between your head and the inner lining.
Secondly we recommend you carry a complete bike repair kit with you when riding. These can be surprisingly light and small these days and will not slow you down. Your bike repair kit should ideally include a puncture kit, tire levers, spare tube and a multi-tool for basic adjustments. You may have a larger variety of tool at home for bike repairs but this kit should be all you need to get back riding when on the road.
The Bicycle lock is an unfortunate requirement for cycling, particularly in the city where bike theft is all too common. U-Shaped bike locks tend to be the safest option however they can be heavier than coil and wire locks. Combination locks may be for those prone to losing keys as a good option.
LED bike lights mounted on the front and rear of your bike help motorists see you at night and therefore are essential for your safety. It is important to always ensure you have enough battery in your bike lights before venturing out and that you have place them in a position that is clearly visible to motorist and not being blocked by pannier bike bags or you bike jersey for example.
